Nevertheless, the requirements on the speed and accuracy of the algorithm due to its application at the trigger level force one to optimize and continually adjust the algorithm to the changing geometry of the STS detector and sometimes even influence the choice of the detector configuration. Following the recent developments of the STS detector several important modifications have been implemented in the CA track finder:

Optimization of the CA Track Finder for the STS Geometry with Sensors Overlapping

Our previous work on adaptation of the Cellular Automaton (CA) track finder [1] to the realistic STS geometry with overlapping sensors allowed to recover the high tracks-finding efficiency [2] which it has had for the simplified STS description with sensors of each station arranged at the same Z position (the “same-Z” geometry). Below we report on a detailed study of the behaviour of the track ...

L1 CA Track Finder with Realistic STS Clusterization

In realistic process of strip clusterization some loss of information inevitably occurs due to merging of clusters. A merged cluster is a group of strips, fired by more than one MC point. For Au+Au collisions at 25 AGeV simulated with cbmroot version Jun10, about 12% of hits are created from merged clusters (at least in one projection) and more than ∼ 50% of tracks contain hits from merged clus...

Track Reconstruction in the STAR TPC with a CA Based Approach

STAR [1] is an active collider heavy-ion experiment at RHIC/BNL (Upton, USA). The main tracking detector of the experiment is the Time Projection Chamber (TPC). Due to the collision rate increasing (up to 40 KHz for Au+Au 200 GeV/n and up to 1 MHz for pp 500 GeV) and recording rate (up to 10 KHz) the STAR experiment requires a fast track reconstruction procedure which can deal with high track d...

Progress with performance simulations of the CBM Silicon Tracking System

Efficient charged particle tracking and high momentum resolution are central performance requirements of the CBM Silicon Tracking System (STS). The aim of the ongoing layout studies is to design a highly granular and lowmass detector system which can track up to 1000 charged particles that are typically generated in one central Au+Au collision at 25 GeV/u projectile energy. A low-mass detector ...

Gaussian Mixture Model estimation

One of the keystones of the canceled BTeV experiment (proposed at Fermilab’s Tevatron) was its sophisticated threelevel trigger. The trigger was designed to reject 99.9% of lightquark background events and retain a large number of B decays. The BTeV Pixel Detector provided a 3-dimensional, high resolution tracking system to detect B signatures. The Level 1 pixel detector trigger was proposed as...
